Bayfield County libraries are being invited to assist with the upcoming Census 2020 project by sharing information and being a location where individuals can complete their Census online. At a recent training on the subject we learned one thing we’d like to start sharing immediately: THE CENSUS BUREAU WILL NOT CALL YOU!
The “official” Census kick-off date is April 1, 2020. You should receive a post-card from the Census Bureau between the middle and the end of March. You will be able to participate in the census survey online, by phone (it’s ok if you call them!) or you can request a paper copy of the census form be sent to you. If they don’t hear from you someone, actually two people working on the Census effort will come knocking at your door. It IS important that everyone participate in the census. It can have a profound effect on the funding our State receives which means money that will be available for roads and schools. It can also effect our representation. The information you provide is completely private and will be shared with zero other government agencies. So…take 10 minutes to answer 10 questions that can and will affect your state for the next 10 years. But, again…they don’t call you. You call them!
