First, we would like to say thank you to everyone that has continued to give their support, love and encouragement to the Forest Lodge Library. Many of you were able to attend the meeting that was held Tuesday morning, November 19th, 2024, at the Cable Natural History Museum. There were also many that expressed interest that were not able to attend, we thank you for sharing your concern and support as well.
At this meeting, a committee from the Forest Lodge Library and the Cable Natural History Museum discussed a letter that was sent by the museum to the library describing their possible intention of future use of the log cabin. Understanding that the museum does have its own future goals and needs to be met, the letter outlined changes within the log cabin that did raise some concern for the library, because those changes would greatly impact future library use and needs.
Together, it was discussed how changes that were presented in the letter would affect not only the library but impact the community as well. There have been many, many patrons that have expressed their love of the log cabin remaining the library, as it has been known for so many generations.
The museum also gave their perspective as to their growing needs. Stating that with their strategic plans, they may need more space as well. The library discussed possible ways to share space not only in the log cabin library, but in the new building as well.
The library plans on moving forward with drafting it’s own letter of a future vision of the log cabin, if it is to remain as a library, which we absolutely hope and intend that it will.
There will be a Special Forest Lodge Library Board meeting to be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 9AM at the Forest Lodge Library. As always, this is a public meeting, and the community is welcome to attend. The agenda will be posted at the library, the post office, our social media sites, and on the events calendar on the website no later than Monday, November 25, 2024 at 9M, in accordance with open meeting requirements. Please note that at this meeting, due to time constraints and needs, we will not be taking public comments.
