We’ve been keeping it interesting at the Forest Lodge Library this summer! Here’s a quick look at some of the events we’ve offered!
On Friday, June 22nd, Wisconsin born filmmaker John Mitchell came to Cable for a screening of his documentary CHEESEHEADS, a delightful film about…Wisconsin! (yes, it’s in our collection…if you missed the screening, you should come and check it out!) Because we like to have fun, we scheduled a tailgate party that took place before the screening, all at the beautiful Cable Community Centre. We had burgers/sliders, beer and root beer and a whole pile of fresh Ellsworth Creamery cheesecurds that the filmmaker arranged to have sent our way. It was a blast!
On Friday, July 6th we offered a Reading Carnival for our younger patrons…and their parents and grandparents. First we had a MAKERSPACE session where our friend Kenton Whitman showed kids how to weave a cool bracelet out of cord. Dee Ann Rasmussen was on hand with her book about her fishing dog. We had some yard games set up behind the Book House, and participating kids got to “fish” for prizes. We offered some lunch and lemonade and wrapped it up with a puppet show from Pam Corcoran.
On Wednesday, July 11th Mark Moran, the mobile antiques appraiser returned to the area. This trip we held our event out at the Namakagon Town Hall. As usual…there were some treasures!
