Fox 8 is the shortest book that I read in 2018. At 28 pages it’s a little bitty thing. You know the old saying about good things coming in small packages? It is true. This slim volume packs a decisive wallop. Fox 8 is the strange one in the pack, known as a dreamer. This is especially true after he learns to speak the “yuman” language by eavesdropping outside of a family home. This is a darkly humorous tale that made me laugh out loud. It’s wonderfully odd and bittersweet as well. There are great lessons in this story that are as relevant today as they always were. I adored this book, and I think you might too.
“One day, walking neer one of your Yuman houses, smelling all the interest with snout, I herd, from inside, the most amazing sound. Turns out, what that sound is, was: the Yuman voice, making werds. They sounded grate! They sounded like prety music! I listened to those music werds until the sun went down…”
