Sometimes it feels like a convenience, other times, not so much. Our library system will send you an email advising you that an item you had checked out is about to be due. You think, “Wait a minute! I already returned that!”
Just so you know…until we hear otherwise, we will continue to quarantine returned items before even we touch them. Our recommended quarantine time was recently reduced to 24 hours given the results returned on tests on items with glossy paper. (for example.) This should cut down on the inadvertent overdue notices, but, please be patient! And, of course, we haven’t charged fines in a very long time and we sure aren’t going to start now!
