“Wisconsin nurse on the New York frontline of pandemic, then diagnosed with COVID-19.” So read the headline on the story from WAOW in Wausau. Many of us followed the chronicle of Hayward’s Buffy Riley via her almost daily Facebooks posts while she served a 3 week stint in a NYC ICU during the height of the COVID pandemic in late April/early May of 2020. Heart-breaking, heart-wrenching, heart-filling, her stories of her days in that ICU unit made the pandemic very real to all her readers. And then, yes, her last several days in NYNY she began to feel poorly and a COVID test upon her return to Wisconsin revealed that she had, in fact, contracted the virus. Happily, she has recovered and is now negative for COVID-19 and has returned to her nursing duties closer to home. We at the Forest Lodge Library are pleased to offer this opportunity to hear Buffy’s story directly from Buffy in this virtual event scheduled for Weds., June 17th. This meeting will be held on the Bluejeans platform and the app is a free download from the app store respective to your device. Here’s a link to the meeting: https://bluejeans.com/7157983189.
